The Fleece FPE-SF-CUMM-9802 SureFlo Performance Sending Unit is an excellent upgrade for the fuel system in your 1998-2002 Dodge 5.9L Cummins. If you are running an externally mounted aftermarket lift pump, your truck will need a draw straw. That, or it will require you to drill the fuel tank to accommodate a sump. Either option has some pretty significant drawbacks including in cavitation of the pump when you draw air into the fuel system due it being below a 1/4 tank.
The Fleece FPE-SF-CUMM-9802 SureFlo Performance Sending Unit fits directly into the stock sending unit location and is designed to be compatible with externally mounted aftermarket lift pumps. Featuring OEM-style quick disconnects that adapt to the factory fuel lines at the tank. Providing a clean installation with no cutting or drilling of the tank required. This unit works by drawing fuel and returning fuel to the bucket assembly at the base of the unit. This guarantee ensures that the pump draws fuel and not air into the fuel lines. Therefore eliminating the potential for 1/4 tank issues. The SureFlo sending unit has one way check valves to allow fuel to easily flow in, even at the lowest fuel levels.
