A thread-in freeze plug is a must when building a 24v or common rail for high horsepower. The small press-in freeze plugs under the valve cover frequently blow out at high rpm, allowing massive amounts of engine coolant into the crankcase. In addition to contaminating the oil, this condition can easily allow the engine to overheat and suffer catastrophic damage.
Thread-in freeze plugs eliminate this risk entirely, and we have assembled a kit for convenient user installation, complete with thread sealant. A threading tap is optionally available as well.
