This time in The Parts Bin, we’re covering our restocked air filters. We previously covered why we developed these filters and the problems they solve. We offer two lines of performance air filters, the Performer, and the Dust Bowl filter.
Some of they key things we wanted from our filters are:
- Easy to Clean – These filters are dry media. This means to clean them, all you do is hit them with the air hose to blow out any dirt they have trapped. No oiling, no water.
- Durable – The mesh “exoskeleton” on our filters makes them extremely strong. No crumpling on install, no twisting, no hands on the media. These air filters are built to last.
- Low Maintenance – Since they are easy to clean and oil free, Power Driven Diesel air filters are extremely low maintenance. Just clean them off and they are good to go.
This time, we’re covering the two different types of filters we offer, their benefits, and advantages of each.
The Performer Line Diesel Air Filters
The Performer Line of air filters are street only filters. These are the same filters we run on our UCC truck. If horsepower and maximum performance is your game, this is the filter to use. But keep in mind, all that air flow comes with a tradeoff – these are not designed for dirty, dusty roads.
The Dust Bowl Line Diesel Air Filters
The filter media we use in the Dust Bowl air filters was actually developed for use in Baja racing with an extremely high efficiency rating. This air filter will stop 99.7% of particles that are 0.3 microns or larger. This is unacheivable with any other aftermarket performance air filter. That’s not to say that this filter will restrict your performance. It will not, unless you are comparing it to the extreme flowing Performer Line.
As we work with our manufacturing partners on these, they have explained (in their tech speak) that 99% of the filtration with this happens on the outside of the filter. This makes cleaning your Power Driven Diesel air filter super easy. Just hit it with an air hose and blow the dust right off. It is also water repellent. Unlike paper filters that get ruined by water, or oiled gauze that water penetrates, this filter will repel water.
Strong Enough to Sit On
Just to show how durable these filters are, we had Connor from the shop use one as a stool. We don’t recommend this, but we wanted to show you just how strong these filters are. They will stand up to anything you can throw at them.
Find the Right Filter For Your Truck
A rule of thumb when selecting an air filter for your truck is the pick the biggest filter you can fit. Our filters come in a variety of heights and come with 4”, 5”, 5.5”, and 6” outlet to help you flow as much air as possible to your truck.
