Billet 2wd output shaft for Dodge A518, A618, 47RH, 47RE, and 48RE transmissions. This billet 100% American made shaft features increased radiuses to eliminate stress risers at the critical dimension transitions and is double heat treated for increased durability. This shaft is machined from a single billet of 5″ round alloy bar stock and is quite expensive to manufacture. But if you’re tired of breaking stock 2wd output shafts or if you plan to utilize a trans brake on your 2wd race project, this is a necessary upgrade. Direct drop-in replacement, no modifications are required for late 47re and all 48re transmissions. A518 and 47RH users will lose their mechanical governor system and speedometer gear with this shaft and therefore a full manual valve body will be required to control the transmission up shifts. Early 47RE users will lose their speedometer gear with this shaft so a stand-alone transmission controller or full manual VB will be required to control the transmission up shifts. Recommended upgrade for 1000HP or higher!!!
***Although 48re 2wd transmissions have a larger tail housing seal and output slip yoke outer diameter, they share the same internal spline and transmission output shaft dimensions as a 47re, so yes, this will fit your 2wd 48re***
